Design & Build
Kilmal was appointed by a private client to deliver a full transformation of Bowden Barn, creating a contemporary, high-performance workspace that blends architectural elegance with environmental responsibility. The design and build programme covered CAT A, B and C works, including structural alterations, roof enhancements, external cladding, glazing and extensive landscaping.
One of the project’s defining features was the exclusive use of reclaimed timber -spruce, Douglas fir and pitch pine - each chosen for its natural grain, durability and character. Every piece was precision-cut to specification, lightly charred and finished with a premium lacquer to enhance beauty and ensure long-term resilience against the elements.

Services Rendered
The scheme included a 10,000 sq ft subterranean basement car park with complete mechanical and electrical (M&E) services and premium finishes, alongside a 7,000 sq ft main building featuring:
Office spaces designed for productivity and collaboration, fitted with modern furnishings and integrated technology.
Bathrooms with high-spec sanitary ware, combining style and accessibility.
Meeting rooms equipped with advanced audiovisual systems for seamless communication.
Reception area that projects professionalism through refined finishes and brand-aligned design.
Breakout areas fostering collaboration and informal interaction.
Back-of-house plant rooms housing essential M&E infrastructure for efficient operation.
Sustainability was central to the project, with the repurposing of reclaimed timber reducing waste and promoting resource reuse - a commitment fully aligned with modern, environmentally responsible construction practices.
Delivered within 16 weeks, Bowden Barn exemplifies Kilmal’s ability to manage complex structural works, integrate advanced M&E systems and achieve exceptional design standards. The result is a workplace that is functional, striking and sustainable - setting a benchmark for how contemporary architecture can merge performance, beauty and environmental integrity.
